That's interesting as there seems to be some dispute/debate about who exactly started Power Soca and who established soca music with speeds above 150 bps as a normal regular style.

Can you post the first power soca track from the great zee and confirm the year that it was released?

Many thanks :drinks:

Thank goodness that not everyone is as slow in understanding English as you are.

I asked you to post me the first power soca track that the Great Zee ever released if you know it and to confirm what year it came out and I am still waiting.

Didn't need a lecture on what power soca is otherwise I would have asked you what power soca is.

If you are incapable of answering my question just say so.

Many thanks :beach:

PS: That riddim by the Greet Zee does not sound much different to uptempo riddims I have heard from KMC and other producers! What is so unique about that anyway, I am curious?
And also don't forget I am still waiting on an answer as to when the Great Zee did his first power soca track and what year was it?

Please show me where I said that Trinis started power soca?! Bring the quote of me saying that or cut the BS. I swear that some of you folks on Imix must be serious mental cases who have computer and internet access from the mental institution!

I have already given you my definition of what power soca is and it has to do with the speed of the music, that's all.

As far as I am concerned it was either the Antiguans or the Dominicans who started and popularise this fast uptempo style of soca which is why I am still waiting on your evidence that the Great Zee started it before them.

And please don't keep me waiting too long for an answer as I have little time for the bullshitters! :beach:

lol@moron talking bout slow the ansa right dey the fact you don´t know what it is proves you dont know what is power soca.
That is not the first power soca according to my definition or even Mr Munroe's which has to do with the speed of the music.

And btw there is nothing unique about the beat in that Great Zee production. But I guess everyone wants to blow their trumpet and claim that they have done something first or totally new.

That was a nice PR marketing exercise by the Great Zee but nothing more than that.
Big-up to him same way as he has produced some good power-soca riddims in recent years.

LOL@moron talking bout his definition

What matters is great zee definition of a genre he coined in 2004.

LMAO
No one that matters actually cares too much about Mr Zee's definition of power soca and note uptempo riddims like what he is producing was done many years before by producers like KMC, $hel$hok, Nasty and others anyway. You are not dealing with a soca novice here who can easily be fooled by good PR.

As I said based on the current popular definition of what Power Soca is; it was either the Antiguans or possibly the Dominicans who started it in the late 80's early 90's. And Superblue was the one who made the fast jump and wave style of soca popular in T&T but he was not the first to do soca at that hectic speed.

You see just like VP can go back into time and claim that Becket started Ragga Soca 20 years before the name was coined, well so too can others regards Power Soca and Groovy Soca! :good:

Once again, no one that matters cares about Mr Zee's definition and he was not the first to do those style productions anyway.

Regards your claim that ragga-soca was defined in SVG; I am yet to see any evidence of that outside of old talk.

The first time the term was used in the public domain was in 1993 and it was actually coined and put out there by Kenny Phillips who himself produced many Ragga-Soca hits during the early 90's including the first major one in 1993 by Byron Lee called "Dancehall Soca" that most folks know of.
In fact from the following year 1994 JW Records brought out a series of Ragga Soca compilations in response to the growing craze called JW Ragga Soca Hits Vol.1, 2, 3, etc and it is from that point the term was officially adopted by everyone and took off.

As you can see I have done my research and so can't be easily fooled by the BS and old talk.

If no want CARES then there would be NO POWER SOCA.

Again, the soca category of POWER SOCA came into being after we DISCUSSED ZEE'S CREATION right here in this FORUM.

Dude, you have to be the BIGGEST PHONY ON PLANET EARTH.

I was WAITING for you to make mention of JW RECORDS.

You only know about JW RECORDS series because of me POSTING the song by the Baron.

That said; the BARON song CLEARLY REFUTES U and the other TRAUMATIZED TRINIS claim of what RAGGA SOCA is in Trinidad.

So there you were TALKING about a GENRE, which you ABSOLUTELY HAD NO CLUE about, but, as always, when info from others are put out there, you act as if what you're saying is something NEW.

Like I said, without the INTERNET, you would be TOTALLY CLUELESS about RAGGA SOCA MUSIC.

That said; since you have been in this FORUM, you have LEARNED more about the GENRE than you ever did in your ENTIRE LIFETIME, and that is because of the PRESENCE of NON TRINIDADIAN MEMBERS.

That said; FEEL FREE to show the EVIDENCE that KENNY PHILLIPS COINED the term in 1993.

As for "DANCEHALL SOCA," the first time that was COINED in MUSIC was done by BECKET way back in 1987.
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3L_3J24tgA0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So Byron Lee and the Dragonaires were almost a DECADE behind time when they came out with DANCEHALL SOCA.

I already told you I don't care too much for Mr Zee's definition of Power Soca especially as his productions are not that unique as you guys are making out!

I have already given you details of the first major hit that Kenny Phillips produced even though he had produced other Ragga Soca songs before that and I have also given you the year that he coined the term and put it out there into the public domain.

You will not hear the termed Ragga-Soca used by anyone before early 1993 when Kenny first coined and put it out into the public domain. And I have already explained to you one of the major factors for everyone going with the term, which was JW Records series of Ragga Soca compilation albums from early 1994 onwards.

Unlike you guys everything I state is and can be backed by solid evidence rather than just hearsay!
