The many Asafa Powell Fans around the Caribbean and abroad can now breathe a sigh of relief. Asafa was his typical self, slowing down on the line and was clipped for second place and automatic qualification to the finals. He had to wait until all three semi-finals were finished to see if his 9.94s was one of the fastest losers and indeed it turned out to be just enough to carry him through to the finals.

I can’t say I am surprised by Asafa Powell. I only hope he provides something special to make up for his poor showing and almost costly mistake.
