Earlier yesterday, many residents of Martinique, St. Lucia and Dominica poured out reports that they had felt the tremor from a pre-dawn earthquake. At around 3:18 a.m., the 4.9 magnitude tremor occurred 80 km northeast of Fort-de-France, Martinique; 109 km east southeast of Roseau, Dominica; and 120 km northeast of Castries, St. Lucia, as shared by the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Center.
The depth of the early morning quake was recorded to have struck 18 km. Reports from residents share that the tremor was so strong that objects in their homes shook.
The latest tremor came two days after a 4.8 magnitude earthquake rattled Guadeloupe and some neighboring islands. There were no reports of damage or injuries in either seismic event.
