By Colville Mounsey
IT is that time again and once more the search is on for the 2014 Banks Beer Calendar Girl. Banks (Barbados) Breweries Limited is once again on the lookout for a strong, confident and attractive young woman, over the age of 18 years, to represent the brand for the coming year and that person would once again be chosen at the conclusion of the highly anticipated elimination showdown of beauty as well as poise under pressure.
The competition will take the same format as it has for the past two seasons and once more a whopping $10 000 will be up for grabs. The public will also have the chance to select a People’s Choice winner by voting online for their preferred contestant at www.facebook.com/mybanksbeer.
The People’s Choice winner will receive $1 000, along with automatic qualification into the Final 8. In the event that the winner of the People’s Choice is one of the eight already chosen by the judges at the preliminary heat, then the ninth highest scoring contestant at the preliminary round will automatically advance to the finals.
Voting for the People’s Choice will open on November 25 and conclude on December 5, while entries for the competition close on November 20.
The preliminary round of the 2014 Banks Calendar Girl competition is scheduled to take place on November 28 at the Oistins Bay Gardens.
“Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the Banks Calendar Girl is one of the most celebrated and sought-after crowns in Barbados. Through this competition, we are once again seeking to attract a Barbadian woman who has the complete package of beauty, brains and charm to represent the ‘Beer of Barbados’ as its official Ambassador,” said Charles Walcott, category manager for Banks Holdings Limited.
